“Yoon’s confident putting helped separate her from the chasing pack”
South Korea’s Yoon Ina made a brilliant start to the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship by shooting a bogey-free nine-under-par 63 in the opening round at Hazeltine National Golf Club.
Her outstanding performance matched the lowest round ever recorded in the tournament and gave her a two-shot lead. Yoon carded nine birdies and showed excellent accuracy and confidence throughout the day.
Australia’s Karis Davidson finished second after shooting a seven-under 65, while A Lim Kim and Alexa Pano shared third place at five under.
World No. 1 Nelly Korda opened with a two-under 70. She was in a strong position before a double bogey on the 16th hole dropped her behind the leaders. Despite the setback, Korda remains in contention with three rounds still to play.
Yoon will now look to maintain her lead as the tournament continues. With several top-ranked players chasing her, the battle for the championship is expected to become even more competitive over the weekend.
