“Catching his rival near the finish showed his superior climbing strength”

Tadej Pogacar and Marlen Reusser both won the Tour de Suisse after taking victory in the final stage of their respective races on Sunday.

In the men’s race, Pogacar entered the final stage with a strong lead over Richard Carapaz and stayed in control throughout the 151km mountain route. He attacked in the final section, caught Lenny Martinez near the finish, and secured his third stage win of the week along with the overall title.

Pogacar has now added another major week-long stage race to his impressive season, continuing his strong form ahead of upcoming Grand Tour events.

In the women’s race, Marlen Reusser defended her title after gaining the lead with a powerful time trial win. She held off Elisa Longo Borghini on the final 100km mountain stage and broke away in the closing kilometres to seal another stage win and overall victory.

Both riders showed consistency across climbing and time trial stages, finishing the week as clear winners in their categories.
