“Her career played a major role in raising the global profile of women’s boxing”
Irish boxing legend Katie Taylor has announced that she will retire from professional boxing later this year after one final fight in Dublin.
The 39-year-old champion plans to have her farewell bout in her home city this summer. She hopes to stage the fight at the iconic Croke Park stadium, although other venues in Dublin could also host the event if needed. Taylor said she wants to finish her career in front of her home fans and celebrate her journey in the sport.
Taylor has not fought since her third victory over Amanda Serrano in July 2025 at Madison Square Garden. She holds an outstanding professional record of 25 wins and just one loss. Throughout her career, she became an Olympic gold medalist in 2012 and won multiple world titles, becoming one of the biggest names in women’s boxing.
Details about her final opponent and the exact date of the fight have not yet been confirmed, but it is expected to take place in July or August. Her retirement will mark the end of a remarkable career that helped transform women’s boxing on the global stage.
