"The decision reflects both Doohan’s and Alpine’s focus on long-term goals."

Alpine have ended their relationship with Australian driver Jack Doohan, removing him from the reserve driver role ahead of the 2026 Formula 1 season. Both parties agreed to the split, allowing Doohan to explore new opportunities in motorsport.

Doohan joined the Alpine Academy in 2022 and progressed through junior categories, including Formula 2. He debuted in Formula 1 at the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. In 2025, Alpine promoted him to a full-time race seat alongside Pierre Gasly. He struggled to score points and suffered a few heavy crashes early in the season. Alpine then returned him to a reserve role.

Despite the setbacks, Doohan showed promise with his speed and adaptability during testing and races. Alpine thanked him for his professionalism, commitment, and contributions.

After leaving Alpine, Doohan may join another F1 team, such as taking a reserve role at Haas. He could also compete in other series like Super Formula to continue developing his career. Fans and experts view the move as a chance for him to rebuild and return stronger to Formula 1.
