“Sri Lanka delivered their strongest performance when it mattered most”

Sri Lanka Under-19 produced an impressive all-round performance to defeat India Under-19 by eight wickets in the second Youth ODI at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota, leveling the three-match series 1-1.

After being asked to bat first, India recovered from an early collapse to post 285 runs in 47.2 overs. Anvay Dravid led the fightback with an entertaining 87 off 67 balls, while Arjun Rajput added a valuable 76 to give India a competitive total.

Sri Lanka responded with confidence and controlled the chase from the beginning. The standout performer was Dimantha Mahavithana, who delivered a remarkable unbeaten 155. His brilliant innings guided the hosts to 291 for 2 in 48 overs, securing victory with two overs to spare.

Mahavithana’s match-winning century proved to be the difference as Sri Lanka comfortably reached the target while losing only two wickets. The victory not only showcased the team’s batting strength but also kept the series alive.

With the series now tied at 1-1, both teams will head into the third and final Youth ODI looking to claim the series in what promises to be an exciting decider.
