“England’s late recovery with the bat wasn’t enough to stop Australia’s relentless chase”

Australia Women continued their dominance in world cricket by defeating England Women by seven wickets to lift the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup trophy at Lord’s. The victory secured a record-extending seventh T20 World Cup title for Australia.

England, batting first, recovered from a difficult start to post 150/4 in their 20 overs. Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt remained unbeaten on 58, while Freya Kemp added an unbeaten 44 as the pair shared an important partnership to give England a competitive total.

Australia responded confidently despite losing an early wicket. Beth Mooney led the chase with a superb 64 from 49 balls, while Phoebe Litchfield contributed 48. Their 100-run partnership put Australia in complete control before Ellyse Perry finished the job, guiding the team to 153/3 with 17 balls to spare.

Mooney was named both Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament after another outstanding performance. The triumph also marked Australia’s seventh Women’s T20 World Cup title, further strengthening their status as the most successful team in the tournament’s history.
