“The move gives the Lakers another promising young player with room to grow”
The Los Angeles Lakers have signed forward Ziaire Williams to a one-year contract worth $3 million. The move adds another young and athletic wing to the team’s roster ahead of the 2026-27 NBA season.
Williams joined the Lakers after the Brooklyn Nets declined his team option, making him a free agent. The 24-year-old enjoyed the best season of his career in 2025-26, averaging 10.2 points and 2.4 rebounds in 56 games. He also shot 42.5% from the field and 34.3% from three-point range.
Standing 6-foot-9, Williams brings size, defensive versatility, and room for further development. The Lakers hope he can strengthen their wing rotation while continuing to improve his all-around game.
The signing also reunites Williams with Bronny James, his former teammate at Sierra Canyon High School. The deal fills the Lakers’ 15th standard roster spot as the team continues shaping its squad for the upcoming season.
