Unstoppable India Claim Their First Women’s ODI World Cup Title

India’s women’s cricket team made history on November 2, 2025, by winning their first ICC Women’s ODI World Cup title. The final took place at Dr. DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, where India defeated South Africa by 52 runs before a packed crowd.

India batted first and scored 298 for 7. Shafali Verma led the innings with a brilliant 87 off 78 balls. Deepti Sharma supported her with a composed 58. Later, Deepti shone again with the ball, taking 5 wickets for 39 runs. Her spell helped India dismiss South Africa for 246.

This was India’s third appearance in a World Cup final after 2005 and 2017. However, this time they finished the journey by lifting the trophy. The win drew comparisons to India’s 1983 men’s World Cup triumph and marked a new era for women’s cricket in the country.
