Pakistan Clinches Victory Over Sri Lanka in ODI Opener

Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by 6 runs in the first ODI of the three-match series at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on November 11, 2025. Batting first, Pakistan posted 299 for 5, led by a brilliant 105 from Salman Ali Agha and 62 from Hussain Talat.

Sri Lanka started well with Pathum Nissanka and Kamil Mishara putting together an 85-run opening stand, but regular wickets in the middle overs slowed the chase. Wanindu Hasaranga fought hard with 59 runs, yet Sri Lanka could only reach 293 for 9.

Haris Rauf’s four-wicket haul proved decisive, helping Pakistan defend a challenging total. The match remained tense until the final over, but Pakistan held their nerve to claim victory.

Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi praised his team’s strong batting partnership and disciplined bowling, while Sri Lanka’s Charith Asalanka admitted that losing key wickets in the middle overs cost them the match.

Pakistan now leads the series 1-0 as both teams prepare for the second ODI.
