India Retain Asia Cup Against Pakistan, Celebrate Without the Trophy

India defeated Pakistan in the Asia Cup final in Dubai to retain their title. Pakistan managed 146 runs in 19.1 overs, with Kuldeep Yadav taking four wickets and the rest of the Indian attack keeping the pressure on.

India’s chase started poorly at 20 for 3, but Tilak Varma held firm with a calm unbeaten 69. Shivam Dube added 33, and together they steered India to 150 for 5, winning by five wickets with two balls left.

The celebrations took an unusual turn. India refused to accept the trophy and medals from ACC president Mohsin Naqvi, who is also Pakistan’s interior minister. After more than an hour’s delay, players collected only individual awards, and the main trophy was carried away by Naqvi himself.

Some players lightened the mood by pretending to lift an invisible trophy, drawing cheers from fans. With this win, India claimed their ninth Asia Cup title, but the missing silverware made it one of the most dramatic finals in the tournament’s history.
