Bangladesh Clinches T20 Series After Impressive Run Chase

Tanzid Hasan's unbeaten 73 powers Bangladesh to a dominant eight-wicket win, sealing the T20 series 2-1 in Colombo.

Bangladesh wrapped up the T20 series in style with a dominant eight-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the third and final match at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, clinching the series 2-1.

Sri Lankan skipper Charith Asalanka won the toss and elected to bat first under clear skies. Openers Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis got the hosts off to a steady start. Nissanka was the top scorer for Sri Lanka with a well-composed 46 off 38 balls, including four boundaries, while Mendis chipped in with 21.

But Bangladesh struck back quickly, triggering a collapse that saw Sri Lanka lose six wickets for just 88 runs. The middle order struggled to build partnerships under tight bowling pressure. However, Dasun Shanaka and Maheesh Theekshana offered some late resistance, stitching together an unbeaten 29-run stand for the eighth wicket.

Shanaka provided a spark in the final over, smashing Shoriful Islam for 22 runs with two sixes and two boundaries to boost Sri Lanka’s total to a modest 132 for 7 at the end of 20 overs.

In response, Bangladesh had an early setback when Nuwan Thushara dismissed Parvez Hossain Emon cheaply. But skipper Liton Das steadied the innings with a confident 32, forming a crucial partnership with Tanzid Hasan.

Tanzid was the star of the show, putting on a brilliant display of aggressive batting. He remained unbeaten on 73 off just 48 deliveries, hammering six towering sixes and four fours. His match-winning knock ensured Bangladesh chased down the target comfortably in 16.3 overs with eight wickets in hand.

With this comprehensive win, Bangladesh not only sealed the T20 series but also showcased their growing strength in the shortest format of the game.
