“Geopolitical instability continues to affect international motorsport events”
The 2026 MotoGP Qatar Grand Prix, originally scheduled for April 10–12 at the Lusail International Circuit, will now take place on November 8, 2026. Organisers postponed the race due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East to ensure the safety of riders, teams, and fans.
This change also affected other rounds. The Portuguese and Valencia races moved to later dates. MotoGP and the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) worked closely with Qatari authorities to adjust the calendar and keep the championship running smoothly.
Officials explained that they wanted to host the race under the best possible conditions. They focused on safety and quality to ensure that fans, riders, and teams could enjoy the event.
The postponement comes amid broader disruptions to global motorsport caused by geopolitical instability. As a result, fans and teams must prepare for a reshaped season that now concludes with the Qatar GP in November. This adjustment adds an unusual twist to the 2026 championship calendar.
