“The event is one of the biggest tournaments on the PGA Tour calendar”
Sweden’s Ludvig Åberg set the pace at the The Players Championship after producing an outstanding second round at TPC Sawgrass in Florida.
Åberg fired a brilliant nine-under-par 63 to take a two-shot lead heading into the weekend. His impressive round included six birdies and two eagles, putting him in a strong position in one of golf’s biggest tournaments on the PGA Tour.
Close behind him is Xander Schauffele, who carded a solid 65 to stay in contention. Other players still chasing the lead include Justin Thomas, Tommy Fleetwood and Matt Fitzpatrick, setting up a competitive battle for the top spot.
Meanwhile, top stars Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler struggled during the early rounds. Both players finished the second round at one-over-par, leaving them well behind the leader despite managing to make the cut.
The tournament, known as one of the most prestigious events outside the majors, offers a massive prize purse and attracts many of the world’s best golfers. With Åberg in strong form and several big names chasing, the weekend rounds promise an exciting battle for the title.
