“The record books keep changing, but Duplantis remains the constant name in them”
Swedish pole vault star Armand Duplantis broke the men’s pole vault world record for the 15th time, continuing his remarkable dominance in the sport.
The achievement came at the Mondo Classic indoor meeting in Uppsala, where Duplantis cleared 6.31 metres, improving his own previous world record by one centimetre. The 26-year-old cleared the height on his first attempt, sparking huge celebrations from the home crowd.
Duplantis had already secured victory in the competition before attempting the record jump. Earlier in the event he successfully cleared 5.65m, 5.90m and 6.08m, showing complete control before raising the bar to the historic height.
Norway’s Sondre Guttormsen finished second with a clearance of 6.00m, while Sam Kendricks, Zachery Bradford and Kurtis Marschall each managed 5.90m.
Since first breaking the world record in 2020, Duplantis has improved the mark several times, raising it centimetre by centimetre. His latest jump further strengthens his reputation as one of the greatest pole vaulters in athletics history.
