Nalanda College Colombo defeated Ananda College Colombo by 53 runs to win the 49th Battle of the Maroons Limited-Overs Encounter. The match was played at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo.
Nalanda batted first and posted a strong total of 261 runs in 50 overs. Nemindu Akmeemana scored 79 runs, while Ranmith Dinuwara added 78 runs. Their innings helped Nalanda build a competitive score.
In reply, Ananda tried to chase the target but were bowled out for 208 runs in 46.5 overs. Danindu Sellapperuma was the top scorer for Ananda with 80 runs, but the team could not reach the target.
Nalanda’s bowlers played a key role in defending the total. Osanda Pamuditha took 3 wickets for 19 runs, while Santhul Wijerathne picked up 2 wickets for 50 runs.
With this performance, Nalanda secured a comfortable 53-run victory and celebrated another memorable win in the historic Battle of the Maroons series.
