“The match ended quickly as Australia controlled both innings from start to finish”

Australia finished their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign with a comfortable nine-wicket win over Oman at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy on 20 February 2026.

Australia won the toss and chose to bowl first, immediately putting Oman under pressure. The Omani side struggled against tight bowling and were bowled out for 104 in 16.2 overs. Wasim Ali top-scored with 32 runs, but regular wickets prevented Oman from building momentum. Adam Zampa led the attack brilliantly, taking 4 for 21 and earning the Player of the Match award. Glenn Maxwell and Xavier Bartlett picked up two wickets each.

Chasing 105, Australia made light work of the target. Captain Mitchell Marsh played an aggressive unbeaten knock of 64 off 33 balls, while Travis Head added 32. Australia reached 108 for 1 in just 9.4 overs, sealing the win with 62 balls to spare.

Despite the dominant performance, Australia could not progress to the Super Eight stage due to earlier defeats. They ended the group phase with two wins and two losses, while Oman finished their tournament without a victory.
