“Wainwright said he is excited to play in front of passionate crowds at Welford Road.”

Wales international Aaron Wainwright will leave Dragons RFC at the end of this season to join English Premiership club Leicester Tigers. He has spent his entire professional career at the Dragons, making over 120 appearances since 2017. Wainwright has also earned more than 60 caps for Wales, playing in the Six Nations and Rugby World Cups.

Wainwright mainly plays at number eight but can cover other back-row positions. Leicester Tigers hope his experience, power, and versatility will strengthen their forward pack and add leadership alongside other Welsh players in the squad.

Wainwright said he is excited about the move and looks forward to playing in front of the passionate fans at Leicester’s Welford Road. Dragons expressed disappointment at losing one of their top players but wished him well for the next stage of his career.

This transfer is part of a growing trend of Welsh internationals moving to English clubs to take on new challenges and gain experience in the Premiership.
