“The decision reinforces SSC’s emphasis on player availability for local competitions.”

The Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) has dropped Sri Lanka internationals Kusal Mendis and Dasun Shanaka from its squad for a three-day domestic match. Both players left to participate in the ILT20 franchise tournament abroad and missed earlier domestic fixtures.

Although Sri Lanka Cricket issued No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for them, SSC expressed disappointment over their absence. As a result, Mendis and Shanaka will miss match practice and can only join training sessions during this fixture.

SSC competes in Division Two this season after being relegated last year. Other national players, including Kamindu Mendis and Janith Liyanage, are actively taking part in the three-day matches and contributing to the team’s performance. SSC’s decision shows the club’s commitment to domestic cricket and emphasizes the importance of player availability for local competitions.
