“Five teams will battle it out, giving local talent a chance to shine alongside international stars.”
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced that the sixth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) will run from 8 July to 8 August 2026.
The tournament was originally planned for December 2025. However, SLC postponed it to prepare stadiums and pitches for the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup. This ensures the venues meet international standards and offer the best conditions for players and fans.
The sixth edition will feature five teams, following the same format as previous seasons. Matches will take place across major cricket grounds in Sri Lanka. Local players will compete alongside international stars. Teams will enter the tournament with renewed energy and updated strategies after the postponement.
Fans can enjoy a month of thrilling T20 cricket, with intense matches and standout performances. The league also provides players a platform to showcase their skills before the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup.
With the LPL returning in mid-2026, the tournament promises exciting cricket action. It will bring together domestic and international talent. Overall, it will be one of the most anticipated sporting events in Sri Lanka next year.
