“We’ve learned from the Vegas experience and are ready to improve for Qatar and Abu Dhabi.”
McLaren faced a big disappointment at the Las Vegas Grand Prix when both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were disqualified. The issue was excessive wear on the cars’ rear skid blocks, caused by unexpected bouncing at high speed, known as porpoising. This meant their strong finishes in the race were erased, narrowing their lead in the championship and giving rivals like Max Verstappen a boost.
Despite this setback, McLaren remains confident. Team principal Andrea Stella said the problem was specific to Vegas and does not reflect a season-long issue. The team believes they can adjust the car setup for the remaining races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi to avoid similar problems.
Both drivers have shown strong pace throughout the season. McLaren insists they will continue to support them fully, allowing Norris and Piastri to compete freely in the title fight.
With up to 58 points still available in the final rounds, the team aims to maximize results and secure strong finishes. McLaren remains determined to challenge for both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ standings until the very end.
