Alex Marquez won the Malaysian MotoGP, his third victory of the season. Riding for Gresini Racing, he overtook Francesco Bagnaia early and finished 2.676 seconds ahead of Pedro Acosta. Joan Mir completed the podium.

The Moto3 race was disrupted by a serious crash during the sighting lap. José Antonio Rueda and Noah Dettwiler were airlifted to a hospital. Dettwiler underwent multiple surgeries and remains in critical condition, while Rueda had a hand fracture and bruising.

Taiyo Furusato later claimed his first Moto3 Grand Prix win in a shortened and delayed race.
