“With 20 teams in the tournament, competition is expected to be fierce and exciting”
Nepal and Oman have officially qualified for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, becoming the 18th and 19th teams to secure spots in the tournament. Both teams earned their place thanks to strong performances in the Asia/East Asia-Pacific Qualifier held in Al Amerat, Oman.
Their qualification was confirmed on October 15, 2025, after the United Arab Emirates defeated Samoa by 77 runs. This result ensured Nepal and Oman finished in the top three of the qualifier standings.
The 2026 T20 World Cup will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka and will feature 20 teams. Nepal and Oman join major cricketing nations such as India, Australia, England, and South Africa. Both teams have previously played in the T20 World Cup, with Nepal debuting in 2014 and Oman in 2016.
The final spot for the tournament will be decided through ongoing qualifiers, with teams like the UAE, Japan, and Qatar competing for the last position. Fans can look forward to an exciting competition as Nepal and Oman aim to make a strong impact on the global stage.
