“This is more than a competition—it’s a learning journey for Sri Lanka’s future champions.”

Sri Lanka is proudly sending a 100-member team of young athletes to compete in the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain, scheduled from October 22 to 31. The event will feature more than 4,000 athletes from 45 Asian countries.

The Sri Lankan contingent will take part in 12 different sports, including athletics, swimming, badminton, boxing, and weightlifting. These young competitors were selected from schools and national-level events under the guidance of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) and the Sports Ministry.

Although there were a few administrative delays before departure, the team is now fully prepared and motivated to represent the nation. Officials believe this exposure will help shape the next generation of Sri Lankan athletes for future international competitions.

The Asian Youth Games serves as a platform for emerging talent across Asia, and Sri Lanka’s young stars are ready to make their mark on the global stage.
