“National teams will continue competing in ICC events despite the suspension.”
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has suspended USA Cricket’s membership with immediate effect. The decision follows a year-long review and consultations with stakeholders.
The suspension comes after repeated breaches of obligations under the ICC Constitution. USA Cricket failed to implement a functional governance structure and did not make progress toward achieving National Governing Body status with the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC).
Despite the suspension, USA Cricket’s national teams will continue to participate in ICC events, including preparations for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. The ICC and appointed representatives will temporarily oversee the administration of national teams, player development programs, and high-performance systems.
A Normalisation Committee has been set up to guide USA Cricket on the steps required to lift the suspension. These include specific changes to governance and operations. The committee will monitor progress and provide support.
The ICC emphasized that this decision aims to uphold governance standards and protect the integrity of the sport while continuing to support the growth of cricket in the United States.
