The United States men’s ice hockey team made history at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan–Cortina, defeating Canada 2‑1 in overtime to claim their first Olympic gold since 1980. Matt Boldy scored early to give the Americans the lead, but Canada’s Cale Makar tied the game late in the second period, pushing the match into a tense final frame and overtime.
