Kiplimo Sets New Half-Marathon World Record in Lisbon

"Kiplimo’s world-record run added another milestone to his already impressive career"

Ugandan runner Jacob Kiplimo reclaimed the men’s half-marathon world record at the EDP Lisbon Half Marathon in Lisbon, Portugal. He finished the race in 57 minutes and 20 seconds, breaking the previous official record and cementing his place among the world’s best distance runners.

Kiplimo ran a fast and controlled race, covering the first 5 km in about 13:28 and reaching 10 km in around 27:00. When the pace eased slightly after 15 km, he accelerated and maintained his lead to the finish. Unlike some previous unratified runs, this performance met all official conditions and was recognized as a world record.

Kenyan runners Nicholas Kipkorir and Gilbert Kiprotich finished second and third, clocking 58:08 and 58:59 respectively. In the women’s race, Tsigie Gebreselama successfully defended her title with a time of 1:04:48.

Kiplimo’s achievement at Lisbon highlights his dominance in long-distance running and adds another milestone to his career. The Lisbon Half Marathon remains one of the most prestigious events on the World Athletics Platinum Label calendar.
