"Her mental strength and fighting spirit could be the key to claiming another title"

Emma Raducanu has reached her first WTA final since her historic 2021 US Open win. She achieved this at the Transylvania Open in Cluj‑Napoca, Romania, by defeating Ukraine’s Oleksandra Oliynykova in the semi-final.

Raducanu won the match 7‑5, 3‑6, 6‑3, showing resilience after losing the second set and fighting back to win the deciding set. This is her first final appearance since her US Open triumph and marks an important step in her return to top form.

The 23-year-old faced challenges during the match, including a shoulder issue, but handled the pressure well and secured the win. Playing in Romania was also special for Raducanu, as it is her father’s birthplace, and she received strong support from the crowd throughout the contest.

Raducanu will now play the final on Saturday against either Sorana Cirstea or Daria Snigur. A win would give her her first WTA title since the US Open and add another milestone to her promising career.
