“The incident underlines how strict technical rules can impact race results even after the finish”

Max Verstappen and his teammates Jules Gounon and Daniel Juncadella lost their NLS2 victory at the Nürburgring Nordschleife after a post-race disqualification.

The trio drove a Mercedes-AMG GT3 for Winward Racing and dominated the race from the start. They secured pole position and led confidently, building a gap of nearly one minute by the finish.

After the race, officials found that the team used seven sets of tyres, which exceeded the six-set limit. This rule breach led officials to disqualify the team and remove their win from the results.

Dan Harper and Jordan Pepper moved up to first place and claimed the victory after the decision.

The team later admitted the mistake and accepted responsibility for the error. The issue came from a miscalculation rather than anything the drivers did on track.

Despite the disappointment, Verstappen showed strong pace, control, and adaptability throughout the race. His performance highlights his growing confidence in endurance racing as he prepares for more events at the Nürburgring.
