“Every historic performance starts with the willingness to rise above expectations”
Haeran Ryu captured the 2026 Amundi Evian Championship after defeating Brooke Henderson on the first playoff hole to secure her second major title of the season. Both players finished the tournament at 19-under-par, but Ryu held her nerve with a birdie in the playoff to claim the trophy at Evian Resort Golf Club in France.
The South Korean entered the final round with a three-shot lead after producing a record-breaking third-round 60, the lowest score ever recorded in a men’s or women’s major championship. Although she shot an even-par 71 on Sunday, a birdie on the 18th hole forced the playoff after Henderson charged back with a brilliant 7-under 64.
Henderson’s final round included three eagles as she erased a seven-shot deficit to give herself a chance at the title. However, Ryu stayed composed in the playoff and delivered the winning birdie to seal another memorable victory.
The triumph marked Ryu’s second consecutive major championship after winning the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship earlier this season. It also became her second LPGA Tour victory of the year, further establishing the South Korean as one of the top performers in women’s golf.
