France secured their place in the FIFA World Cup quarter-finals with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Paraguay in a challenging Round of 16 clash.

The breakthrough finally came in the 70th minute when France were awarded a penalty after a foul inside the box. Captain Kylian Mbappé calmly converted the spot-kick to score the only goal of the match and send his team into the last eight.
Paraguay responded with several late attacks as they searched for an equaliser, but France remained solid at the back and held on to their narrow lead until the final whistle. Goalkeeper Mike Maignan also played an important role in keeping a clean sheet.
