Zimbabwe began their T20 World Cup campaign in style with a commanding eight-wicket victory over Oman in Colombo. After winning the toss, Zimbabwe chose to field and their bowlers delivered a near-perfect performance.

Oman were bundled out for just 103 in 19.5 overs. Zimbabwe’s pace attack ran through the batting line-up, with Blessing Muzarabani leading the charge with 3 for 16. Richard Ngarava and Brad Evans also took three wickets each, leaving Oman struggling at 27 for 5 early in the innings. Vinayak Shukla (28) and Sufyan Mehmood (25) were the only batters to offer resistance.

Chasing a small target, Zimbabwe stayed calm and in control. Brian Bennett anchored the innings with an unbeaten 48 off 36 balls, while Tadiwanashe Marumani added 21. Brendan Taylor made a quick 31 before retiring hurt, helping Zimbabwe reach 106 for 2 in just 13.3 overs.

Zimbabwe won with 39 balls to spare, sending a strong message to the rest of Group B. Blessing Muzarabani was named Player of the Match for his outstanding spell with the ball.
