“The Silverstone result marked another major step in David’s promising racing career”
Sri Lanka’s Yevan David made history by finishing second in the FIA Formula 3 Sprint Race at Silverstone. The 18-year-old AIX Racing driver became the first Sri Lankan to stand on the FIA Formula 3 podium with an outstanding performance in the 18-lap race.
After qualifying 11th, David started from the front row under Formula 3’s reverse-grid format. He made a strong start and settled into second place behind race leader Ugo Ugochukwu, maintaining a steady pace throughout the race.
David drove with confidence on the fast Silverstone circuit, managing his tyres well and defending his position under pressure. Although Ugochukwu pulled away to win the race, David crossed the finish line 15.3 seconds behind the winner to secure a memorable second-place finish.
The result earned David valuable championship points and marked the best finish of his Formula 3 career. More importantly, it was a historic moment for Sri Lankan motorsport, as no Sri Lankan driver had previously reached the podium in FIA Formula 3.
With his confidence growing, David will now turn his attention to the Silverstone Feature Race as he looks to build on his breakthrough performance.
