Sri Lanka’s men’s rugby sevens team secured third place in the second leg of the 2025 Asia Rugby Sevens Series, held at the Racecourse Grounds in Colombo. Hong Kong won the men’s Cup, while Japan claimed the women’s title.

Under captain Kavindu Perera, Sri Lanka dominated the group stage, defeating Uzbekistan, Singapore, and China. In the semi-finals, they narrowly lost 15–12 to Japan after a yellow card and some tough refereeing decisions.

In the third-place playoff, Sri Lanka faced China again. After a 7–7 halftime tie, they surged in the second half to win 19–14, with tries scored by Sori, Dabare, and Dange.

The final standings of the tournament saw Hong Kong first, Japan second, and Sri Lanka third. The team’s strong performance highlighted their skill and resilience, earning them a deserved podium finish on home soil.
