“Any changes to the global calendar will be formally announced by the ICC”
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) says Sri Lanka has secured hosting rights for an ICC Champions Trophy event planned for 2027. The board adds that the International Cricket Council (ICC) will confirm the official format and schedule later.
However, the ICC has not officially included a Men’s Champions Trophy for 2027 in its current Future Tours Programme. The existing schedule lists the tournament in 2025 in Pakistan and again in 2029 in India, with no men’s edition set for 2027.
Sri Lanka is also expected to host an ICC women’s global event in 2027 as part of the women’s cricket calendar. The ICC has not yet confirmed the final format or fixtures for that event.
This situation has created confusion between early announcements and the official ICC calendar. Until the ICC makes a formal statement, the 2027 Men’s Champions Trophy claim remains unconfirmed.
For now, Sri Lanka’s confirmed ICC hosting duties are linked to women’s cricket in 2027. The men’s Champions Trophy is not part of the current official schedule.
