“Sri Lanka finally gained the momentum they had been missing, delivering a focused and confident performance.”

Sri Lanka claimed their first victory of the Tri-Nation T20 Series with a strong 9-wicket win over Zimbabwe in Rawalpindi. It was a much-needed result after a difficult start to the tournament.

Zimbabwe chose to bat first and finished on 146/5. Sikandar Raza and Ryan Burl both scored 37 and helped steady the innings. Sri Lanka’s bowlers kept things tight throughout, with Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga taking two wickets each.

Sri Lanka started the chase confidently. Pathum Nissanka produced a standout performance, smashing an unbeaten 98 off 58 balls. His innings included 11 fours and 4 sixes and set the tone for the chase.

Kusal Mendis supported him well with a calm 25 not out. Together, they guided Sri Lanka to the target in just 16.2 overs and secured a comfortable win.

The victory lifts Sri Lanka’s morale and keeps them alive in the series. Their next challenge will be against hosts Pakistan.
