“Sri Lanka’s next generation of racers have shown that passion, not experience, drives success.”
The SpeedStar Championship 2025 came to a close at SpeedBay in Port City Colombo, bringing an action-packed end to Sri Lanka’s karting series for newcomers. The event welcomed 96 first-time racers who competed across four categories — Junior, Senior, Women’s Open, and Master.
The Junior class saw Ayaan Farook win the final race, while Rakhil Perera claimed the overall title through consistent performances. In the Master division, G. P. Dilan dominated the series with a perfect score and fastest laps to secure the crown.
The Women’s Open category featured strong competition, with Natanya Raymond shining in the final race, but Ameera Khalid taking the overall championship. In the Senior class, Kavisha Uyanwatta led a group of quick drivers, edging out rivals with impressive lap times.
The championship not only highlighted fresh racing talent but also proved the growing interest in grassroots motorsport in Sri Lanka. Winners were rewarded with entry to the upcoming Sodi Sprint Cup in Bandaragama, ensuring their journey on the track continues.
