“This dominant win sends a strong message to the rest of the tournament”

South Africa delivered a powerful all-round performance to defeat India by 76 runs in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Super Eight match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Batting first, South Africa posted 187 for 7 in their 20 overs. The innings began with early setbacks, but David Miller steadied the side with a crucial 63 runs. Dewald Brevis added 45 in an important partnership that helped South Africa recover strongly and finish with a competitive total.

India’s chase never truly settled. Wickets fell at regular intervals, and the team struggled to build momentum. Shivam Dube was the top scorer with 42 runs, showing some resistance, but the rest of the batting line-up failed to support him. India were eventually bowled out for 111 in 18.5 overs.

Marco Jansen led the bowling attack brilliantly with figures of 4 for 22, while Keshav Maharaj claimed 3 wickets to tighten the pressure. Jasprit Bumrah picked up three wickets for India, but the target proved too demanding.

The emphatic victory ended India’s unbeaten run in the tournament and boosted South Africa’s confidence as they strengthened their position in the Super Eight stage.
