“A perfect balance of power, patience, and precision defined the Proteas’ play.”
South Africa continued their fine form in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 with a commanding 10-wicket win over Sri Lanka in Colombo.
Rain shortened the game to 20 overs per side, but South Africa made it look easy. Sri Lanka struggled to build momentum and ended their innings at 105 for 7. Vishmi Gunaratne top-scored with 34 runs, while Nonkululeko Mlaba impressed with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 30 runs.
Chasing a DLS target of 121, South Africa’s openers dominated from the start. Laura Wolvaardt scored 60 not out off 47 balls, and Tazmin Brits added 55 not out off 42 balls. They reached the target in just 14.5 overs without losing a wicket.
This victory marked South Africa’s fourth straight win, putting them near the top of the standings, while Sri Lanka are still looking for their first win.
