“South Africa’s batting and all-round performance mark them as strong title contenders.”
South Africa dominated Pakistan in a rain-affected Women’s World Cup 2025 match at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. The win propelled South Africa to the top of the points table.
After rain reduced the match to 40 overs per side, South Africa scored 312/9. Laura Wolvaardt led the innings with 90 runs, supported by Marizanne Kapp (68*) and Sune Luus (61). Nadine de Klerk added a quick 41 off 16 balls.
Pakistan’s revised target of 234 runs in 20 overs proved too steep. They managed only 83/7, ending their campaign in the tournament.
Marizanne Kapp starred with both bat and ball, scoring 68* and taking three wickets to earn Player of the Match. Wolvaardt and Luus also played key roles in South Africa’s commanding total.
With this win, South Africa leads the standings with 10 points from six matches. Pakistan remains winless. South Africa will next face Sri Lanka.
