“Calm, fast, and flawless — Russell showed what true composure looks like.”
George Russell produced a brilliant performance to win the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix. He mastered the challenging Marina Bay circuit from start to finish. Starting from pole with a 1:29.158 qualifying lap, he controlled the 62-lap race confidently.
At the start, Russell quickly pulled ahead of Max Verstappen. Meanwhile, Verstappen tried to keep pace but finished 5.4 seconds behind. Later, on lap 47, Russell set the fastest lap at 1:33.994. This showed his perfect balance between speed and tyre management.
Behind them, Lando Norris took third for McLaren after a close fight with teammate Oscar Piastri. Despite their early contact, McLaren celebrated winning the Constructors’ Championship with six races remaining.
In addition, Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli finished fifth. He managed to stay ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc. However, Lewis Hamilton dropped from seventh to eighth after a track-limit penalty, allowing Fernando Alonso to move up.
Interestingly, no driver retired in this race. Therefore, it marked the first Singapore Grand Prix where all cars finished.
Moreover, Russell’s victory ended Mercedes’ seven-year drought at Marina Bay. It also gave him redemption after crashing on the last lap in last year’s race.
