“Norway continues its strong tradition in cross-country skiing at the Olympics”
Norway continued its dominance in cross-country skiing at the Milan‑Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, as Johannes Høsflot Klaebo led the team to victory in the men’s 4 × 7.5 km relay. The win gave Klaebo a record-breaking ninth Olympic gold, making him the most decorated male athlete in Winter Olympic history.
The relay took place at the Tesero Cross‑Country Stadium, where Norway finished with a time of 1 hour 4 minutes 24.5 seconds, 22.2 seconds ahead of France, who took silver, while Italy claimed bronze. Klaebo anchored the Norwegian team with a strong final leg, securing the gold and extending Norway’s lead in the medal tally.
Earlier in the Games, Klaebo had already won gold in the 10 km+10 km skiathlon, sprint classical, and sprint freestyle events, making this his fourth gold of the 2026 Olympics. He paid tribute to his teammates and his 83-year-old grandfather, who inspired his journey in skiing.
This historic win reinforces Norway’s position as a powerhouse in cross-country skiing and highlights Klaebo’s remarkable career as one of the greatest Winter Olympic athletes of all time.
