“Europe now aims to continue its winning momentum under his guidance”

Luke Donald has been named Europe’s Ryder Cup captain for the third consecutive time, ahead of the 2027 tournament at Adare Manor in Limerick, Ireland. The appointment marks a historic moment, as Donald becomes one of the few captains to lead Europe in three straight editions of the prestigious event.

The 48-year-old former World No. 1 previously guided Team Europe to victory in the 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome and followed it up with another success in 2025 at Bethpage Black in New York. His calm leadership and strong team management have earned him the trust of European golf officials once again.

The 2027 Ryder Cup will be especially significant as it coincides with the 100th anniversary of the competition. If Europe wins under Donald’s leadership again, he would become the first captain from either side to secure three consecutive Ryder Cup victories outright.

Speaking after his appointment, Donald said the previous Ryder Cups meant a great deal to him and his family. He admitted he did not expect a third term but is excited about the opportunity to continue building on Europe’s recent success.

With experience, confidence, and back-to-back triumphs behind him, Luke Donald now prepares to lead Europe once more in one of golf’s biggest team events.
