“Young fast bowlers will benefit from Malinga’s guidance in pressure situations.”

Sri Lanka Cricket has appointed former pace legend Lasith Malinga as the Consultant Fast Bowling Coach for the men’s national team. His short-term role runs from 15 December 2025 to 25 January 2026.

Malinga will work directly with Sri Lanka’s fast bowlers, offering coaching, guidance, and support. He will focus on improving death bowling, variations, and T20 strategies ahead of upcoming international matches and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

Sri Lanka Cricket aims to strengthen the pace attack and prepare the team for major tournaments. Coaches and players will gain from Malinga’s international experience, especially his expertise in high-pressure situations.

Malinga is known for bowling accurate yorkers and performing in the final overs. He remains one of Sri Lanka’s most legendary fast bowlers. His return gives young pacers a chance to learn from one of the game’s greatest bowlers and develop their skills quickly.
