“The match tested both mental focus and physical stamina, with every player giving their all.”
Carlos Alcaraz defeated Taylor Fritz 6–4, 6–4 to win the 2025 Japan Open at the Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo. This was Alcaraz’s 24th career ATP title and his 8th title of the 2025 season. His season record improved to 67–7, including a 7–2 record in finals.
Alcaraz dominated from the start with aggressive baseline shots, strong serves, and precise drop shots. Fritz tried to fight back but struggled with a left thigh injury and needed medical treatment. He could not match Alcaraz’s high level of play.
After the win, Alcaraz said, “It’s been my best season so far without a doubt. That shows how hard I’ve worked just to experience these moments and accomplish my goals.” Fritz recognized Alcaraz’s dominance and vowed to bounce back stronger in future tournaments.
Following his victory, Alcaraz announced he would skip the upcoming Shanghai Masters to focus on recovery. This win reinforces his status as one of the top players on the ATP Tour.
