“Calm leadership and smart tactics guide the team through high-pressure moments.”
India delivered a powerful performance to defeat Pakistan by 61 runs in their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Group A clash at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on February 15.
Batting first, India posted a strong total of 175 for 7 in 20 overs. Ishan Kishan led the charge with a brilliant 77 off 40 balls, playing attacking shots all around the ground. Suryakumar Yadav added 32 runs, while Tilak Varma and Shivam Dube chipped in with useful contributions to push the total to a competitive score.
In reply, Pakistan struggled from the beginning. The Indian bowlers applied early pressure and reduced them to 13 for 3 in just two overs. Usman Khan tried to fight back with 44 runs, but he did not get enough support from the other batters. Pakistan were eventually bowled out for 114 in 18 overs.
Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel, and Varun Chakaravarthy each took important wickets to keep Pakistan under control. India’s disciplined bowling and sharp fielding ensured there was no comeback.
With this victory, India qualified for the Super 8 stage and improved their strong record against Pakistan in T20 World Cups to 8–1. It was another memorable night in one of cricket’s biggest rivalries.
