“The huge global interest shows the excitement for the expanded 48-team tournament.”

FIFA revealed that it has received more than 150 million ticket requests for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This is a record-breaking number in the tournament’s history. The current ticket application phase, called the Random Selection Draw, opened on 11 December 2025 and will run until 13 January 2026.

The 2026 World Cup will take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Forty-eight teams will compete across 16 cities from 11 June to 19 July 2026. Only 6–7 million tickets are available in this phase, meaning demand exceeds supply by more than 30 times.

FIFA introduced a Supporter Entry Tier priced at USD 60 per match to make tickets more affordable. After the draw ends, FIFA will allocate tickets through a lottery system. Fans who miss out will have more chances to buy tickets in later sales phases.

The huge demand shows global excitement for the expanded 48-team tournament. The 2026 World Cup is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated events in football history.
