England secured a convincing 89-run win over Sri Lanka in the 12th match of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.
Batting first, England scored 253/9 in 50 overs, led by captain Nat Sciver-Brunt, who made a match-winning 117 runs. Tammy Beaumont and Charlie Dean also contributed with important runs. Inoka Ranaweera was the pick of Sri Lanka’s bowlers, taking 3 crucial wickets.
Chasing 254, Sri Lanka started well but lost wickets regularly, eventually being all out for 164 in 45.4 overs. Sophie Ecclestone of England bowled brilliantly, claiming 4 wickets for 17 runs, dismantling the middle order. Captain Chamari Athapaththu tried to stabilize the innings, but the team could not recover.
With this win, England remains unbeaten and leads the points table with three wins from three matches. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, continues to search for their first victory in the tournament, gaining valuable experience for the young squad.
