“Her journey shows that patience and belief can lead to unforgettable success”
Elana Meyers Taylor finally achieved her long-awaited Olympic gold medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, Italy. The 41-year-old American bobsledder won the women’s monobob event after a thrilling four-run competition.
She defeated Germany’s Laura Nolte by just 0.04 seconds in a dramatic final run. Her total winning time was 3 minutes and 57.93 seconds. Fellow American Kaillie Armbruster Humphries claimed the bronze medal.
This victory was especially meaningful because it was Meyers Taylor’s first Olympic gold after competing in five Winter Games. Before this, she had won three silver medals and two bronze medals. With this win, she now has six Olympic medals, tying the record for the most Winter Olympic medals by an American woman. She also became the oldest U.S. woman to win an individual Winter Olympic gold medal.
The moment was emotional as she celebrated with her two sons, Nico and Noah. Both children are deaf, and Nico also has Down syndrome. After her victory, she signed “Mommy won!” to them, making the moment even more special.
Elana Meyers Taylor’s journey shows determination and perseverance. After years of coming close, she finally reached the top of the podium and secured her place among the greatest Winter Olympians in history.
