“A festival of rugby that promises excitement beyond the pitch”

Colombo will host the first-ever expanded Asia Rugby Sevens tournament in July 2026. The event, called the Emirates 7’s Asia Rugby Clubs Cup, will bring together eight elite men’s club teams from across Asia. Fans can expect fast-paced, seven-a-side rugby and thrilling on-field action.

The tournament runs from 4–5 July. It will feature about 20 matches over two days, with evening games under lights to create a spectacular atmosphere. In addition, spectators can enjoy entertainment zones, fan activities, and premium hospitality experiences alongside the rugby matches.

This competition marks a historic milestone for Asian rugby. For the first time, a continental club-focused sevens tournament moves beyond the traditional national-team format. Colombo, which has a strong history of hosting rugby sevens events, offers an ideal backdrop for this new chapter. The city is expected to attract a large crowd of local and international fans.

Asia Rugby plans to use the tournament to strengthen club-level competition and develop talent across the region. Moreover, it aims to raise the profile of rugby in Asia. The event should become an annual highlight, grow the sport, and inspire the next generation of rugby stars.
