“The countdown begins — Asia’s cricket giants clash in the UAE from Sept 9 to 28!”

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has officially announced that the Asia Cup 2025 will be hosted by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from September 9 to 28. This edition will follow the T20 International (T20I) format, serving as key preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, which will be held in India and Sri Lanka.

A total of eight teams will participate: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, UAE, Oman, and Hong Kong. Matches are expected to be played across top venues in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah. The official schedule, including group draws and fixture dates, will be released soon.

The announcement was made by ACC President and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), generating excitement among fans and media.

This year’s tournament comes in the shadow of heightened political tensions between India and Pakistan, especially after India’s Operation Sindoor in May—a military response to terror attacks in Jammu & Kashmir. Despite diplomatic challenges, cricket fans are hopeful for an India-Pakistan showdown, one of the sport’s most iconic and watched rivalries.

India enters the tournament as the defending champion, having crushed Sri Lanka in the 2023 final. With strong contenders like Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and rising teams such as Afghanistan and Bangladesh, the competition promises to be intense. Emerging teams like Oman and Hong Kong will also be looking to make a statement.

With top-tier talent, fierce rivalries, and regional pride at stake, Asia Cup 2025 is set to deliver high-quality cricket and unforgettable moments leading into the global stage in 2026.
